CAVES AND TOWN OF WONDER – NERJA, SPAIN

On our way to the Malaga Airport to catch a flight to London , we made a last minute decision to stop along the Costa Del Sol and visit the Nerja Caves!

These incredible caves started forming around 22 million years ago – only being discovered in 1965 (or so they thought).

Five Spanish boys were hunting for bats and noticed many of them exiting through holes in the rocks. They returned later with tools to make the holes bigger and found a small chamber leading to other larger underground caverns. While the boys were down there they found human skeletons and quickly ran to tell others about their exciting discovery .
